Swiss Krono Group takes over Argolite
The Swiss Krono Group from Menznau has acquired the HPL laminate manufacturer Argolite. According to a press release, the reorganisation should lead to improved opportunities for “synergies and growth in an increasingly competitive market”. The takeover also marks a commitment to the company’s home market. “With this step, the Swiss Krono Group can significantly expand its position in the Swiss interiors and contract business and strengthen its HPL expertise,” CEO Martin Brettenthaler is quoted as saying.
Argolite has been producing laminate panels since 1953, which are now traded as HPL (High Pressure Laminate) in accordance with the EN438 quality standard. According to the information provided, Argolite will remain legally independent and will be expanded and further developed to a “healthy extent”. The Willisau site will be retained. The number of employees will also remain unchanged. According to its own information, Argolite employs 75 people and two trainees.
“As an independent company, it is ensured that the values, philosophy and spirit of Argolite will live on,” Markus Höchli, owner of Argolite AG, is quoted as saying. His former deputy Rolf Wermelinger has been appointed site manager after many years as Argolite’s head of sales and marketing. “With Mr Wermelinger, we are sending a clear signal that we will continue to pursue the successful path Argolite AG has taken and that nothing will change for our customers,” Roger Braun, Site Manager of Swiss Krono, is quoted as saying.
The family-owned Swiss Krono Group produces wood-based materials at ten production sites in eight countries and stands for sustainable and innovative solutions in the Flooring, Interiors and Building Materials business areas.
