Innovation campus in Zizers for 400 employees
INTEGRA Biosciences recorded a 73 per cent growth in turnover in 2020. The company, which manufactures robots, laboratory products and pipettes, has been growing by an average of 23 per cent annually for a decade. CEO Urs Hartmann emphasises: “Our capacity expansion in all areas is a response to our stronger than expected growth.” The existing building in the Tardisland industrial estate, built in 2009 and expanded in 2019, will be developed into a campus with 30,000 square metres. This will create 250 new jobs. Construction will take place in two stages, in 2023 and 2028.
The main change is in production. Until now, INTEGRA produced pipette tips and consumables only in the USA. In Zizers, a production hall is being built with state-of-the-art injection moulding equipment that produces various pipette tips in a clean room. CEO Hartmann explains, “We’re switching to 24-hour operation and focusing on automation.” A high-bay warehouse is used for storage and delivery. The campus will not only be efficient, but also innovative. A “creative village” with offices, coworking zones, test lab and restaurant will be created.
Fanzun AG is in charge of the general planning. A photovoltaic system and heat pump ensure environmentally friendly operation. Charging stations for electric cars are part of the sustainability concept. INTEGRA is investing over 100 million Swiss francs in Zizers by 2028. The campus will cover 30,000 square metres and provide space for 400 employees. A commitment to the location that combines innovation and sustainability. The inauguration is planned for 2024.
